Last week, I launched the companion podcast for this newsletter. While it was the first episode for Where Soul Meets Body, I’ve actually been producing and hosting a podcast since 2019. As part of my role at NewCity Orlando, I produce The Equip podcast and am on most of the episodes as either the host (usually) or the guest (like today’s episode).
Over last fall, we did a series of episodes related to our learning community called Following Jesus with Anxiety. My collaborator on these episodes, Benjamin Kandt is a licensed mental health counselor and an ordained pastor. He created the learning community as part of his role as Pastor of Formation and Mission, and I helped draw out more material for these episodes as part of my role as Director of Content and Education.
I share these episodes here for two reasons. First, they intersect with concerns I’ve been writing about and that we’ll discuss more in future podcast episodes of Where Soul Meets Body. Second, this was a shift in the kind of content we produced on The Equip and led in some ways to this newsletter forming.
If you want an overview of the learning community, here are the recap episodes we did:
And here are the bonus episodes, which connect to some of the recaps, but can be listened to on their own:
I think you’ll appreciate and benefit from the discussions that Ben and I have, whether or not you struggle with anxiety. You can find more episodes of The Equip wherever you listen to podcasts. Most of this spring, we’ll be producing episodes to support our sermon series which is Romans 1-8. After that, Ben and I will be doing a summer reading series that will include a book I’ve mentioned on here, but I won’t tell you which one just yet.
Later this week, I’ll continue the conversation on emotions and circle back to philosophy.
